Child Naming.
Happy New Month fess….
I know… I haven’t told you that since the beginning of the month. I’m sorry. I’ve been trying to get my thoughts around a number of things. I’ll try and do better next month.
Now, heading to the topic of today….
Child Naming!!!!!!
This always gets at me....
You hear people bearing strange things they call names. Sometimes, these names sound so nice but on finding out the meaning it becomes disturbing... I mean you will be upset.
Parents, please in the mighty name of Jesus... watch what you give your children as names because it matters alot.. Be intentional about the names you give your child(ren). The names are what will tell how the destiny of that child would be. For example, in Genesis 35:18 Rachael gave birth out of pain and wanted giving her son Ben-oni but Jacob refused and changed it to Benjamin meaning Son of my right hand. That’s an example of a father who knew the importance of names and their effect. Even the father, Jacob (which means Thief) himself, had his name changed to Israel because the former name followed him. He stole his brother, Esau’s blessings.
Today you still hear people bearing Jacob… And I’m like why??? Is it that the parents were blind to see that the name was changed by God himself??
Another example of a terrible name is Linda..
How on earth do you give your own child Linda... This name means Serpent or snake.
Do you want her to start manifesting the character of a snake or what exactly?
Rosemary is yet another example. Rose means Bitter.. Mary on the other hand means sorrow. Join the two together and what do you have? Bitter sorrow.
Other examples of nice names with bad meanings are; Cecily(Cecilia), Colin, Cornelia, Emily, Gideon, James, Kennedy, Leah, Rebecca, Rachael, Simon etc.
Some parents just give their children names from the Bible without pausing to find out the meaning of the name and the reason for which it was given. e.g Shedrach Meshach and Abednego. If you are observant you’ll notice that Daniel was also given a Babylonian name Belteshazzar, but he didn’t use it. He kept to his Hebrew name.. I have seen a father give his sons those names accordingly. I mean Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego… I just couldn’t understand why. Don’t just pick names from the bible because they are there. Be very intentional about what it means and how you want it to play it’s role in your child’s life.
Please lets be careful of the names we bear... be it Tribal or English. If you were given a name that has no value to your life and destiny, run and change it. Your surname matters too. So far you bear it, be mindful of it.. Going for deliverance isn’t enough. Change that demonic name now! Sorry change that name. Demonic is too harsh.
God bless you! Always remember I love you!
